Gluten-Free Oat FlourSee Note below for Alternative Flour Option
Now that we have certified gluten-free oats, I eat them everyday.
Oat flour is a wonderful flour for baking because it increases the nutritional profile of your baked goods. And, oats help you feel full longer and help keep blood sugar levels stable.
I use Bob's Red Mill Certified Gluten-Free Oats. The rolled oats are great for baking and making oat flour, but for breakfast I use their Steel Cut Oats. Yummy!
Caution:If you have Celiac and are new to the gluten-free diet, you might find oats (even the gf oats) difficult to digest. This can also be true of apples and other high fiber foods, until your intestines have time to heal. So, proceed with caution when adding gf oats to your diet, and listen to your body.
Alternative to Oat Flour:Coconut flour is a great high fiber, low carbohydrate option if you want a replacement for oat flour. I use coconut flour all the time and love the results, but be sure to note that you won't get a noticeable coconut flavor. If you want to taste the coconut you will need to add more flavorful coconut ingredients to your recipe.
